Top Five Questions To Ask Your Atlanta Boudoir Photographer

Boudoir photography is a great way to celebrate yourself, but it’s typical to have A LOT of questions about this type of photography. Here we have broken down our top five most frequently asked questions so that you can go into your own session feeling empowered.

Q: What should I wear for my boudoir photo session?

Your boudoir photographer will help you choose the right outfits for your session! The short answer is that you should wear something that makes you feel good. For some people, that is lingerie but for others, that can look like a favorite dress, daisy dukes, athletic wear, a cozy oversize sweater, etc. At Atlanta Boudoir by Noel, we offer an hour of personal shopping for any client!

Q: I don’t know how to pose, will you help me?

If you are booking with an established photographer, they should have poses ready for you for your session. They will know how to coach you into flattering poses and give you instructions on facial expressions. It’s also okay to ask for specific poses if you have an inspo board.

Q: Will someone be doing my hair and/or makeup for me?

Every boudoir photographer runs their studio a little differently, and if you know that you want your hair and/or makeup done, you will need to ask your photographer if hair and makeup is included in your session. At Atlanta Boudoir by Noel, the professional hair styling and makeup application is included in your session.

Q: Who will see my photos?

This topic is one that we at Atlanta Boudoir by Noel take super seriously—and your photographer should too. If privacy is a priority for you, make sure your photographer is keeping your photos safe. Proper security protocols include having an encrypted storage space AND storage backup for your photos, using a secure password with your online gallery (pro tip: 12 character passwords would take 200 years to break!), formatting SD cards after use, and only using reputable and trustworthy professional printers and/or retouchers for your intimate photos.

Q: How should I prepare for my session?

This really depends on what you want out of a session and your specific needs. Your photographer should talk to you prior to your session about getting ready for your session. At Atlanta Boudoir by Noel, we have a prep guide that we send clients upon booking. Here’s the general breakdown of the guide: hyrdate, hydrate, hydrate!, eat a light breakfast, get enough sleep for the 2 weeks leading up to your session, keep out of the sun (sunburns are no fun to have during your session), stretch the morning of your session, make sure to have any hair removal that you might want, and get your nails done in the way you prefer for them to look.
